Carpet is a fantastic option for commercial buildings; the one thing that you do have to keep in mind, however, is just how much foot traffic there is going to be. While it’s inevitable that there will be parts of your commercial building that are going to have more traffic than others, the one thing that you can control is how prepared you are for those higher amounts of traffic.

The team at Floor Expo loves being able to install beautiful carpet into commercial buildings in the New York and New Jersey areas. That being said, we also like to see that these carpets are taken care of and well maintained so that they can continue to make your building look beautiful for years to come. That is why, in today’s blog, we are going to touch on a few of the things that you can do to protect the carpet in areas with higher foot traffic.

Add a Rug

If you don’t mind breaking up the flow of your carpet, adding a rug to these high traffic areas is a fantastic way to ensure that the carpet remains in good condition. While area rugs are definitely a great way to protect larger areas, you don’t have to go big to protect the floor. If some of the high traffic areas that you’re wanting to protect are right by the entryway, adding something as small as a welcome mat for people to clean their shoes on can do quite a bit of good in the long run.

Not only will adding a rug in these types of spots ensure that your employees and customers have a moment to clean their shoes off from any moisture or dirt that they walked through, but it will also protect your carpets from people going in different directions.

Vacuum Regularly

Routine cleaning and vacuuming are two of the only ways to ensure that carpets remain in good condition, and that is no different for the carpet in your commercial building. Even though your carpets may not seem like they are dirty or your employees spend a majority of their day sitting at a desk, you’d be surprised just how dirty these carpets can get. By vacuuming regularly, you are not only keeping your carpets clean, but you are fluffing up the carpets and keeping them looking good as new!

Invest in New Carpet When You Need It

Even in the times where you take the time to lay out mats, add area rugs, and vacuum regularly, there are times where high amounts of foot traffic are still going to wear down the carpet, and it’ll show. In those times, it may be in your best interest to reach out to the professionals, and inquire about new carpet. The team at Floor Expo would love to help you determine whether or not that’s what your best option is, or if there’s something else we could assist you with.
